Before proceeding to read this, I would like to note that I used EXPLICIT LANGUAGE. While it probably isn't the best way to get my point across, I feel that it accurately displays my frustration with how this situation is being handled.
I'm sick of hearing about it. NONE OF US know what happened yet we have a bunch of fans, along with the sorry excuse of media writers, acting like the guy is either guilty or the alleged victim just wants money. I'll be brutally honest with you: SHUT THE FUCK UP. All we know right now that is 100% proven is that Kane was at a club with a friend and he met a girl who also had a friend with her. They drank at the club, went back to Kane's house, and early the next morning the girl accused him of rape. Now there is a grand jury hearing on Tuesday, 9/22, to determine if there's enough evidence to proceed to a trial. THAT'S IT. The rest is all rumors. And while it's possible that the league and team know more than we do, we simply don't know that, and it's best not to speculate on that.
So today the hawks had a press conference about the camp, and why Kane was there. Well, looking into what people had to say about the presser, I found this article from Deadspin: http://deadspin.com/patrick-kane-holds-disastrous-q-a-at-blackhawks-trainin-1731495819?utm_campaign=socialflow_deadspin_twitter&utm_source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow
Disastrous you say? What the fuck was he or the team supposed to do? The idiotic media questions would be there with or without him being there. While some may think it's a bad idea for Kane to even be with the team at this time, it's also a bad idea to keep him away from the team at this time. Like I said before, we don't know much about this at all. Keeping Kane away from camp would show that the organization believes him to be guilty, even if they said "We think it's best for Patrick to focus on the situation rather than prepare for the season". In my personal opinion, I believe that the team has done the right thing by bringing him to camp. While it's possible it might cause distraction, it would certainly cause distraction for the team if he wasn't there at all.
Back to the presser though, Deadspin writes in their article that Kane was "dodging questions of the investigation". NO SHIT! Did you think he was going to be completely open about it? Innocent or guilty, you have to be careful about what you say to the media when it comes to legal investigations. It's better to dodge the questions than to make the entire presser about him. This is a prime example of the media being an absolute joke when it comes to anything controversial about a professional athlete. This press conference may have been a train wreck, but the fact of the matter is with or without him, the hawks had no way around it whatsoever.
So to end this rant, I say this to fans and media alike who have felt it best to either victim blame, or assume Kane is guilty from the get go: Until more facts come out about the situation, SHUT THE FUCK UP

What This Blog Is About
Basically whenever something catches my eye in sports, I may rant about it. The two sports I mainly follow are hockey and football, and naturally my posts will probably be more centered on those two sports. However, that doesn't mean I won't rant about something in basketball or baseball. All I ask is that if you leave a comment on a post, be respectful. Not only to me, but to others as well. You don't have to agree with what I say, but things like racism or personal attacks on certain people won't be tolerated.
